Zakhele

Za Foundation funds a dynamic youth group called Zakhele. This group, based at our partner charity Thembalethu, is the backbone of all our programs and also offers a stepping stone to further education or employment for the group members. Using music and drama they deliver important social and educational messages to young people and the local community, specifically around issues relating to HIV/AIDS.

The members of the group also work as mentors to the young children attending our Za Foundation After School Clubs, offering any extra care and guidance they might need.

Za Foundation funds the group the visit the UK every few years. They visit schools in North Somerset, interacting with nursery, primary and secondary school children. In secondary schools, Zakhele offer HIV education and an opportunity for cultural exchange through music whilst in primary schools children engage in story-telling, singing and dancing workshops.
